Eight individuals were hospitalized with burn injuries following the incident. The blast occurred Saturday near Prescott, Wisconsin, after the operator attempted to start the vessel's engine multiple times.
Authorities reported the burning boat drifted, causing damage to a second vessel before fires were extinguished, with a "good Samaritan" credited for preventing further spread.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is investigating the cause.
