14:59Now PlayingIn Venezuela the Trump administration has opted for "nation building-lite," decapitating the regime by arresting Nicolas Maduro, and seeking to run it through Delcy Rodriguez by remote-control from Washington. Prior experience with nation-building suggest the lite version will be subject to mission creep. Trump will not get oil majors to invest unless they have security and property rights, and the latter will not happen as long as remnants of the old regime remain in power. In the end, the country will be stabilized only by having a democratically legitimated government, which will require a new, free and fair election. If the Trump administration understands this, there is hope for a democratic future for the country.
