3:23Now PlayingIn season 1 (episode 12) of Billions, Bobby Axelrod, the unscrupulous billionaire investor (played by Damian Lewis), sheds his elegant and expensive suit and heads off to an important pitch meeting dressed very casually. This reminded me of a conference talk that I attended a few years ago wherein the presenter (Silvia Bellezza) reported a negative correlation between an individual's formal attire at a conference and his/her publication record (more informal implied greater productivity and hence greater academic status). At the end of the the talk, I had pointed to the evolutionary nature of this phenomenon (Zahavian signalling) whilst remarking to the audience that I was dressed very informally!
