Veterans served their nation selflessly, but service sometimes weighs heavily on their mental health, and stigma can be a barrier to seeking help. With support from Google’s veteran community, a group of U.S. veterans ranging from a Google employee to a retired Admiral shared firsthand stories about the value of coming forward and asking for help.

This is Lynman's story. A black Vietnam-era veteran, Lynman wasn’t welcomed home, leading to substance abuse and anger. He eventually got help through a 12-step program, and now gives back by sponsoring others in recovery.
