5:17Now PlayingGoogle.org grantee ReflexAI is building an AI-powered tool that aims to train Veterans to recognize the warning signs of mental health crises and provide emotional support.
Last year, Google.org gave a $1.5 million grant and deployed a team of nine pro bono Google.org Fellows to support ReflexAI. With support from Google, they built HomeTeam.
HomeTeam provides educational modules on Communicating Support, Talking About Suicide, and other important topics. As part of the training, veterans can practice with a simulation. Practicing in a low-risk setting like this can prepare them to have effective real-life conversations with their friends and loved ones.
