as posted by the channelA 28-year-old Virginia-born US State Trooper, Austin Lee Edwards, was posing a a 17-year-old boy online, catfishing young girls. He developed a relationship with a 15-year0old girl and decided to pursue her, driving 2500 miles from Virginia to Riverside to kidnap her.
He murdered her mother and grandparents, snatched her, set their house on fire and sped off. When police caught up to him in San Bernardino County, a shootout ensued, where it was initially believed that he was fatally shot by the sheriff's deputies, but it was later revealed that he shot himself. The girl had managed to escape the vehicle and has been taken into the child protective services.
Austin was formerly employed by the Virginia State Police and had recently been hired as a deputy for the Washington County Sheriff's Office in Virginia, despite a 2016 psychiatric evaluation revealing that he had threatened to kill his father and himself.
