2:54:35Now PlayingOn February 24th, 1986, 29-year-old Sherri Rasmussen was murdered in her home in Van Nuys, California. The scene appeared to have signs of a violent struggle and possibly break in/botched blurglary, but there was no sign of forced entry and only two things were missing from the home: Sherri and John Ruetten's marriage certificate and her car, a silver BMW that John bought for her as an engagement gift. For 23 years, the case remained unsolved and cold, but when detectives re-examined the case files in 2009, they discovered that the DNA on Sherri's arm from a bite mark were from an unknown female. Stephanie Lazarus, an LAPD cop and former lover of John Ruetten was arrested in June 2009 and charged with Sherri's murder. She was found guilty in March 2012 and sentenced to 27-to-life in prison and has been serving her sentenced at the California Institution for Women in Corona. She had her first suitability for parole hearing on November 16th, 2023, and if successful, may be released in July 2024. Do you think she will be released?
