as posted by the channelA Thurston County man was just sentenced to 13 years in prison for burying his wife alive in 2022! After spending hours wriggling in the ground, Young Sook survived and managed to escape the grave she was thrown in after being beaten, stabbed, bound, and covered in dirt in the woods!
54 year old Chae Kyong An pleaded guilty to second-degree attempted murder and DV, saying: “On October 16, 2022, in the County of Thurston, Washington, with the intent to cause the death of my wife Young Sook An, I took a substantial step towards the commission of the offense when I kidnapped her from our home, took her to the woods, assaulted her and placed her bound in a hole and covered her with branches". Chae An was a highly decorated military intelligence warrant officer who served for more than 30 years before being granted disability from the Department of Veteran Affairs for injuries and illnesses related to his service. He and his wife were disputing over finances and their separation at the time when he had attempted to kill her.
The Thurston County Judge Mary Sue Wilson sentenced him to 13 years in prison (165 months and then 36 months of community custody). The victim, Young Sook An, said at the sentencing: "After that day, I and my children's life was crushed. I have to live my life with emotional trauma and health issues for the rest of my life."
