As the Stanley Cup Finals get underway, Hawk turns attention to Golden Knights goalie Carter Hart and the disturbing sexual assault case that followed his 2018 World Junior Championship win with Team Canada.
Carter Hart and up to seven teammates were accused of gang raping a 20-year-old woman over several hours in an Ontario hotel room after plying her with free drinks. The woman was so intoxicated she could not consent. A female judge ruled her testimony not credible, and all five charged players were acquitted.
Hockey Canada later paid the victim an undisclosed settlement and required her to sign an NDA. Eight accused men. None testified against a teammate. Carter Hart is now three wins away from a Stanley Cup title.
