Trump's 16-day America 250 event on the National Mall ended essentially the same way it began: with nobody there. Musical acts canceled. The temperature hit 99 degrees with a heat index of 108. A foam triumphal arch started melting and oozing in the heat. Baptism vats set up for the event became improvised cooling stations as attendees tried to escape the temperature. Colorado's booth was apparently the highlight because it had a kayak.
When supporters finally showed up for Trump's July 4th speech, the event was evacuated again due to heat and incoming storms. For the second time in six years, Trump supporters got violent with security guards in Washington DC. Trump's speech started around 11pm and ran past midnight.
Trump then set off 875,000 fireworks in a city with no wind and 99-degree heat, creating a smog layer now sitting over Washington DC under an official air quality warning.
Hawk closes with the Trump crypto numbers: the family is up nearly $4 billion since inauguration day while supporters who put $10,000 in at launch are now holding less than $300.
