Gavin Newsom had former DC police officer Michael Fanone on his show, and the conversation turned to Joe Rogan. Hawk plays a few minutes of it and adds the part he thinks matters most.
Rogan built years of material out of California, taxes, homelessness in Los Angeles, and Newsom's handling of COVID, then packed up and moved to Austin. In all that time he has never had Newsom on to argue any of it. Hawk's read is that Rogan knows how that would go. Newsom is dyslexic and adapted by carrying an unusual amount of recall, and he would take the whole thing apart without ever raising his voice.
Fanone's description of what the show has become, people working through questions in real time with other people who do not know the answers either, is the line Hawk keeps returning to.
There is one exception Hawk grants: Rogan did push back on Candace Owens over climate change, and cited real information doing it.
