The New York Times reported on how federal investigators handled the aftermath of two killings in Minnesota. Rather than the killings themselves, the investigative energy went toward left leaning organizations: expansive surveillance, infiltrated group chats, financial records pulled, license plates logged outside churches. Seven months on, no person or entity has been charged.
Unions were included, among them the country's largest healthcare workers union, which organizes and fundraises for Democratic candidates.
JVL and Sarah Longwell covered it on the Bulwark's secret podcast with the advantage of having been on the ground in Minneapolis, meeting the people running food networks for neighbors afraid to leave home. Sarah's comparison is to Hoover's FBI in the fifties and sixties.
Hawk also walks through 18 USC 111, which agents keep citing incorrectly. The operative word is forcibly. Following, filming, disobeying, and yelling are not covered by it. Throwing something through a window is.
