Christian nationalist pastor Doug Wilson—famous for outrageous views on slavery, women, and homosexuality—is expanding his church into Washington D.C. with support from top Trump allies, including Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Project 2025 author Russ Vought.
Hawk reveals the growing influence of Wilson's Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC) network and how its agenda aligns with Trump’s broader plan to consolidate executive power and promote evangelical dominance over U.S. law and society.
Wilson has praised slavery, called sodomy worse than slavery, and wants to replace democracy with “Christian Caesarism.” With open support from Hegseth—accused of rape and praised by Trump—and federal policy already benefiting Wilson’s churches, the groundwork for an evangelical theocracy is being laid.
