Tom Homan allegedly accepted a $50,000 cash bribe in a plastic grocery bag from undercover FBI agents during the 2024 presidential campaign. The bribe investigation involved business interests seeking favorable treatment on immigration and detention contracts once Homan returned as border czar under Trump. The FBI investigation began after agents received tips that Homan was accepting bribes from private prison companies and other businesses that would benefit from his position steering government contracts.
Video and audio recordings reportedly capture Tom Homan accepting the cash bribe before election day. Despite this evidence, the DOJ under Emil Bove terminated the investigation after Trump's inauguration. Pam Bondi and Kash Patel refused to confirm whether Homan took the money, kept it, or reported it on his taxes during Senate questioning. Tom Homan himself won't deny taking the bribe, only stating he "did nothing illegal" because the investigation was closed.
The corruption scandal raises questions about how many other bribes Tom Homan accepted and whether contracts were steered to companies that paid him. Donald Trump knew about these bribery allegations during the transition period before naming Homan as border czar for a second time. The FBI, DOJ, Pam Bondi, Kash Patel, and Emil Bove all had access to the video evidence and audio recordings showing the cash transaction but chose to kill the investigation anyway.
FOIA requests from Senate and House members are now attempting to uncover the full extent of the Tom Homan bribe scandal and the Trump administration cover-up involving the FBI and DOJ shutting down legitimate corruption investigations.
