When asked directly whether Americans' financial situations motivated his Iran negotiations, Donald Trump said, "Not even a little bit." The man who ran on the economy, on bringing down inflation, on lowering prices on day one, just told the country on camera that he doesn't think about Americans' financial situations at all. Gas prices are up over $4.60 a gallon in Pennsylvania. Costs are rising. And Trump's war on Iran, a war launched despite Tulsi Gabbard confirming Iran had made no effort to reconstitute its nuclear program, is driving a global economic crisis while Iran fights back with an economic strategy the U.S. has no real answer for.
Cash Patel testified before a Senate subcommittee and turned in a performance that was equal parts petulance, deflection, and outright dishonesty. Senator Chris Van Hollen walked Patel through documented allegations of excessive drinking and unexplained absences, and Patel couldn't tell the difference between a senator recounting published reports and a senator making personal accusations. Patel brought up Kilmar Abrego Garcia, calling him a convicted rapist and gangbanger, which is flatly false. Garcia has never been convicted of, or even charged with, those offenses. Patel lied to Congress multiple times under oath.
Pete Hegseth didn't fare better. Senator Jean Shaheen stated plainly that the U.S. has not won the war on Iran, and Hegseth's response boiled down to counting destroyed targets as victory while ignoring every strategic objective that remains unmet. Even Lindsey Graham raised serious questions about Pakistan's role as a mediator. Former Republican congressman Denver Riggleman broke down exactly how Patel deflects under pressure, playing the martyr while dodging every substantive question.
