I spent 24 years of my life believing everything in the Bible was literally true. I defended it, preached it, and I understand exactly why it all feels perfectly normal from the inside. But in this video, I wanted to re-examine my former beliefs as someone who's been an atheist now for over a decade. I'm focusing on seven of the strangest core doctrines in mainstream Christianity and putting them under a microscope. We'll go straight to the Bible and hone in on the actual teachings of the church itself. And no, these aren't fringe ideas from some backwoods sect. I'm sticking to core doctrines taught right now by mainstream churches and treated as a serious basis for legislation, education policy, and the governance of the most powerful nation on Earth.
