Family Of Hawaiʻi Contractor Targeted By Feds Says He Was Victim

The sister of a late, well-known defense contractor claims that her brother was the victim of a hostile takeover, not someone who scammed his way to a lavish lifestyle, as the feds see it.

You may recall that Christopher Dawson died by suicide in 2024 after officials accused him of embezzling millions from his companies that should have gone to programs benefitting Native Hawaiians. He and his family members were ultimately removed from their roles at these companies.

Now his sister, Donne Dawson, is fighting back as the feds seek to seize four of her brother’s properties. She’s using a similar argument in attempt to get ahold of his entire $2 million life insurance payout and claw back the half that was supposed to go to his daughter — a paperwork mistake, Dawson argues.
