The Senate Blue Ribbon Committee resumed hearings on alleged ghost projects and misuse of public funds in flood mitigation, with focus on Bulacan and nearby provinces. Contractors EGB Construction and Wawao Builders were flagged for irregularities after receiving a major share of the flood-control budget. Senator Raffy Tulfo grilled EGB’s owner, Engineer Erni Baggao, over claims he lent Wawao’s license to secure dubious DPWH contracts. Baggao denied links, but Tulfo warned of contempt if evidence shows otherwise. The committee has uncovered documents and testimonies pointing to contractors acting as dummies for corrupt deals, intensifying calls for accountability in the multi-billion peso flood-control program.
