as posted by the channelUS News: Several Jeffrey Epstein’s survivors spoke alongside congressional Democrats on Tuesday ahead of President Trump’s State of the Union address.
During a news conference hosted by the Democratic Women’s Caucus on Tuesday (24 February), multiple victims took the podium to urge the Department of Justice (DOJ) to comply fully with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
Members of Congress on both sides of the aisle, along with Epstein survivors, have slammed the DOJ for its delayed release of documents related to the convicted sex offender, the redactions of individuals connected to Epstein and the disclosure of victims’ information.
“Rather than apologize for this failure, this DOJ has doubled down on denial and distraction. We are tired of the games. When those we elect to office misuse their positions, it harms us all,” said Annie Farmer, an Epstein survivor.
“Around the world, investigations have reached the powerful, but our Department of Justice and this administration have handled the release of information in a way that leaves survivors and the public asking why the United States appears reluctant to lead on accountability in a case that happened largely on our soil,” added Liz Stein, another victim. “The world is watching.”
Sky and Amanda Roberts, the brother and sister-in-law of the late Virginia Roberts Giuffre, respectively, will also attend at the invitation of Democratic Reps. Jamie Raskin (Md.), Suzanne Bonamici (Ore.), and Suhas Subramanyam (Va.). A seat in the chamber will be left open at Tuesday’s speech for Giuffre, who died by suicide last year.
“When the president makes his speech tonight, he is going to know that looking back at him will be numerous survivors of Epstein’s abuse and that he is facilitating the single largest cover-up in modern American history,” Rep. Robert Garcia (D-California)
“No Donald Trump, this is not a hoax, we are not moving on from this. You have not been exonerated, nor have any of these predators,” remarked Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.).
Jayapal specifically called for investigations into private equity investor Leon Black, New York Giants co-owner Steve Tisch and former Barclays CEO Jes Staley. All three individuals had ties to Epstein.
