Iranian authorities have declared a 40-day national mourning period, while the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has vowed retaliation following the strikes that targeted sites in Tehran and other parts of the country. The fallout has already triggered unrest beyond Iran. In Karachi, Pakistan, hundreds of protesters stormed the United States Consulate General Karachi, clashing with police and setting vehicles on fire, with multiple casualties reported. Similar protests and demonstrations have been reported in parts of the Middle East as tensions rise following the assassination.
