The tensions come amid the escalating Iran conflict, which has pushed global energy prices higher and disrupted traffic through the Strait of Hormuz — a vital maritime corridor responsible for roughly 20% of the world’s oil shipments. While Tehran claims the strait remains open, Iranian officials have warned that vessels linked to the United States and its allies may not be allowed to pass.
