8:48Now PlayingPresident Trump has ordered the Pentagon to scale back joint military exercises with South Korea, citing his "very good relationship" with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and Seoul's lack of assistance with Iran. Trump said he did not want to send a signal that is "totally inappropriate and hostile" to North Korea, while also criticizing South Korea for not helping him on Iran. South Korea's presidential office has now responded, with a statement noting it hoped the friendship between Trump and Kim would lead to peace talks, and expected it to lead to meaningful North Korea-U.S. talks and the start of discussions aimed at advancing peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. Seoul also pushed back on Trump's Iran remarks, saying it has actively participated in talks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and broker a ceasefire in the conflict
