8:01Now PlayingUS News: Democrat Delia Ramirez (D-IL) delivered a scathing critique of Donald Trump’s cybersecurity strategy during a House Homeland Security Committee hearing ahead of the congressional recess, accusing the administration of enabling corruption and failing to protect Americans from growing digital threats.
In a fiery exchange, Ramirez warned that the current approach falls far short of what’s needed to defend the country’s cyber infrastructure. Comparing it to earlier efforts, she said the latest strategy lacks depth and seriousness. “The 2018 strategy was far more comprehensive than what we are seeing today… and it should concern every single member of these subcommittees,” she stated.
Ramirez didn’t hold back in her broader criticism of the Trump administration, alleging systemic corruption and misuse of power.
“They’re swindling Americans, stealing our hard-earned dollars… all for private profit,” she said, accusing Trump and his allies of operating like a “transnational criminal network.”
Citing reports, she alleged that Trump and his family benefited financially while regulatory protections were rolled back, raising concerns about conflicts of interest and national security risks.
The hearing highlighted growing concerns over cybersecurity preparedness in the U.S., especially as global threats from hacking, financial fraud, and digital warfare continue to rise. Ramirez stressed that combating these risks requires strong institutions, proper funding, and clear, comprehensive strategies, something she argued is currently missing.
Her remarks add to the intensifying political debate over cybersecurity, corruption, and the role of government in safeguarding both national security and the financial well-being of Americans.
