A lawsuit claims one of the guards was asleep in the Brinks truck while the other guard was away getting food. The armored tractor-trailer was transporting the jewels to a gem show in Pasadena, California, before the heist. The driver, who was eating dinner, says he returned 27 minutes later to find the truck had been broken into. The guard who was sleeping claimed, "He did not see or hear anything unusual."
