as posted by the channelFlorida’s Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says “severe weather and torrential downpours” caught many people off guard, especially drivers. Deputy William Hollingsworth was one of the officers helping stranded motorists. The officer saw the person go underwater and attempted to rescue him. Authorities say the two men were underwater for about “30 seconds and traveled nearly 100 feet underwater.” The officer and citizen resurfaced on the other side of the highway, shocked to be breathing.
