Forecasters believe the storm will weaken from a Category 4 hurricane before it reaches Mexico's Baja California peninsula. California has not seen a tropical storm since 1939, according to the National Weather Service. And if Hillary makes landfall at hurricane strength in California, it will be the first hurricane to hit the state since 1858.
