Trump's "Biggest Pro-Life Victory": The New Battle Against Planned Parenthood

President Trump delivered the biggest pro-life victory this country has ever seen. We then won in Florida, getting the abortion ban down to six weeks. But the next mile of this battle isn’t about the legal front—it’s about winning hearts and minds to stop abortion. The truth is, women in my state of Florida and all across this country are often pulled aside by an abusive partner, or a rapacious employer, and told: now isn’t a good time to get pregnant… we’re not going to have a baby. Too often, women making this decision aren’t doing so with informed consent. They aren’t exercising real agency.

That’s why the pro-life movement must recognize that while we must shut down every single Planned Parenthood in America, we also have to open a crisis pregnancy care center in its place. The reason is simple. If an expecting mother goes to Planned Parenthood and says: I would have the baby if I could just get some diapers for the first five weeks—the answer is no, ma’am, all we offer is murder. If she says: I would have the baby if I could just get my prenatal vitamins—the answer is no, all we offer is murder. If she says: I would have the baby if you could just help me with childcare for the first six weeks so I can get through this season—the answer is still no, all we offer is murder.

Planned Parenthood is not about parenthood at all. It is about ending parenthood before it begins. Crisis pregnancy centers stand in the gap. They step up for women who say, I would have the baby, but… and they fill in that “but.” They stand for the dignity of every life.
