13:05Now PlayingWorld War II historians James Holland and Al Murray get up to close to the M4 Sherman, the most versatile tank used by the United States and Western Allies in the second world war. ✅ SUBSCRIBE " Equipped with a 75mm gun as well as an optional single hatchmounted .50 caliber machine gun (plus two lighter .30 cals positioned in the turret and forward hull), the Sherman was easily maintained on the battlefields of Europe and while it lacked the range and firepower of the German Panther and fear factor of the Tiger Tank, its speed, manoeuvrability and fast rate of fire made it an ideal workhorse. More recently, the M4 Sherman starred in the Hollywood blockbuster "Fury" (2014), with Brad Pitt and Shia LaBeouf. With special thanks to Jim Clark and his crew on 'Lili Marlene'
