Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid made a surprise announcement Friday that he will not run for re-election in Nevada in 2016 which set off discussions inside the Democratic leadership about who will replace the long-time leader. Also this week, President Obama met with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and announced that 9,800 U.S. troops will remain in Afghanistan through the end of the year. Former Taliban captive Bowe Bergdahl was charged with desertion. And in the in 2016 race for the White House, Sen. Ted Cruz became the first official candidate to declare his candidacy.
