2:07Now PlayingEven though President Donald Trump has dismissed reports of a U.S. munitions shortage, The Atlantic’s Missy Ryan says that such a shortage has been a “problem decades in the making,” and it is “going to take years to solve it.”
“These munitions just were not a priority in the post-Cold War era,” Ryan told Washington Week moderator Jeffrey Goldberg.
Ryan added that the munitions shortage “goes back to the rashness” of the Trump administration’s planning of the Iran war and “overconfidence” after the military operation in Venezuela.
