She then sued and won the right to participate in women's tournaments, later becoming a highly competitive professional despite being in her 40s. Today, however, Richards says she regrets forcing her way into women’s sports and believes that trans women should not follow her lead.
Jimmy notes that in today’s charged political environment Richards would be called a transphobe, a bigot and probably a white supremacist for objecting to trans women competing in women's sports.
