Trump's War Weakens America

Donald Trump’s war with Iran isn’t just going badly in Iran. It’s now weakening America’s ability to defend itself around the world.

On tonight’s show, I dig into a disturbing new report that the U.S. military now has a “beyond critical” shortage of Patriot missile interceptors in Europe because we burned through so many weapons in Trump’s Iran war. American officials are warning that we may not have enough Patriots to defend NATO from a sustained Russian missile attack — and Pentagon officials are separately worried that the war is draining weapons we might need if there’s a conflict with China over Taiwan.

Elections have consequences. We elected an incompetent man who started an unnecessary war, lost it, wasted enormous amounts of money and weapons, and is now leaving the United States less prepared to deal with Russia and China. Trump’s response? He posted a “MISSION ACCOMPLISHED” meme, apparently unaware that the phrase became synonymous with George W. Bush prematurely declaring victory in Iraq.

And the damage isn’t just overseas. Farmers in America’s Corn Belt say skyrocketing diesel and fertilizer costs caused by the Iran war are helping push them into their worst crisis in 40 years. A lot of these people voted for Trump. Now his war is helping push them toward the brink.

We also get into National Guard members publicly describing their humiliation over Trump’s federal takeover of Washington; Trump’s White House ballroom construction contributing to communication problems before a near-miss between Marine One and a civilian jet; and CIA Director John Ratcliffe’s secret trip to Moscow to warn Russia about attacking NATO and reportedly tell Putin that his situation in Ukraine is a lot worse than he may realize.

Plus: new documents raise serious questions about whether RFK Jr. lied to Congress about his anti-vaccine activities in Samoa; we discuss the potentially surprising additional benefits of the shingles vaccine; and the Trump White House posts a photo supposedly showing an American bald eagle beating up a Canadian goose — without bothering to discover that the goose actually won the fight.

And finally, the Trump administration posts a Winston Churchill clip comparing itself to a “tiger,” apparently not realizing that the tiger Churchill was talking about was H*tler.

You really can’t make this stuff up.
