1:14:20Now PlayingOn today’s show I’ll be discussing the renewed escalation in Trump’s war with Iran. The United States has launched its second round of strikes in three days, following Iranian attacks on commercial ships and American military personnel. Two more oil tankers have now been struck near the Strait of Hormuz, oil prices are climbing again, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent is making the extraordinary prediction that the strait will become “a worthless piece of water” within two years.
I’ll also look at the growing economic fallout. Government bond yields are soaring around the world, threatening to drive up borrowing costs for governments, businesses, homebuyers and consumers already stretched thin.
Then there’s a disturbing new whistleblower report alleging that the Postal Service is secretly rushing to implement Trump’s attempted takeover of mail voting -- despite a court order blocking it. The whistleblower warns that the new system could result in potentially millions of Americans receiving their mail-in ballots late or not at all during this year’s midterm elections.
Finally, Germany is accusing Russia of carrying out last month’s explosive-laden drone attack at Leipzig airport. The drone, which was discovered near a Ukrainian cargo plane, was reportedly carrying military-grade explosives. And I’ll have a programming note about David Pakman joining me on September 8.
