12:58Now PlayingIn a status hearing to prepare for a lengthy upcoming evidentiary hearing, Alex Murdaugh’s defense team told the judge that the controversial Clerk of Court, better known as Miss Becky, purposefully tainted the jury so she could sell more of her books she was writing about the case. “She was told a guilty verdict would be good for the book — that’s motive!” Dick Harpootlian explained in court. The defense has requested that a new trial be granted for Murdaugh, who was convicted of killing his wife and son, due to alleged misconduct among Miss Becky and several jurors.
