Investigators soon discovered the image came from a viral TikTok AI trend and that extensive police work, including DNA collection, had all been triggered by a fabricated story. The caller later admitted she made it up for attention, pleaded no contest to two misdemeanor false-report charges, and was sentenced to probation with a condition banning her from TikTok.
