The Grammy-nominated artist, whose legal name is Aliaune Akon Thiam, was driving on a suspended license. Akon told the Chamblee Police officers that he thought his warrant for a failure to appear had been addressed. The interaction with police was recorded by body-worn cameras as Akon and his wife were preparing to travel to India for his tour.
