as posted by the channelA 69-year-old New Mexico woman, Ernestina Lucero, was reported missing by her family, but police soon zeroed in on her son, Leroy Vallejos, after he gave inconsistent stories and neighbors reported strange behavior and recent fights between the two. When officers conducted a welfare check at the home, they made a horrifying discovery: Lucero’s partially dismembered remains hidden inside a chest freezer. Vallejos was arrested and later confessed to strangling his mother, claiming bizarre beliefs involving witchcraft and saying he delayed turning himself in because he was worried about his dogs. He has since been deemed incompetent to stand trial while facing murder and evidence tampering charges. Law&Crime’s Elizabeth Millner goes Inside the Crime.
