After nearly a year at trial, Young Thug pleaded guilty to drug and gun-related charges. He also pleaded no contest to conspiracy and participating in a street gang. A judge sentenced him to 40 years in prison, but commuted the sentence to time served and 15 years of probation.
Many legal experts have weighed in on the charges against Young Thug and his co-defendants, calling the trial itself “outrageous” and the charges an “extreme overstretch in the judicial system.”
Geoffrey Ogunlesi, who represents Young Thug, visited the rapper while he was in jail. The two talked about his girlfriend, Mariah the Scientist and their relationship. "You got her in her feelings, man," Ogunlesi said. Thug also mentioned about the dreams he was having while locked up. The rapper later showed a picture he drew of himself crying and laughing at the same time. "We gotta do something with that," his friend said.

Young Thug faces nearly a dozen charges, including possession of drugs and weapons, participation in criminal street gang activity, and conspiracy to violate Georgia’s RICO Act. The rapper was arrested in May of 2022 along with 27 other alleged gang members. Many of those defendants have taken plea deals in the case.
