8:03Now PlayingOn Tuesday, the defense gave its opening statement in the case against Dr. Ebony Parker. She faces eight counts of felony child neglect for allegedly not preventing a first-grade student from shooting a teacher, Abby Zwerner, inside a classroom. She was the assistant principal at Richneck Elementary School in Virginia when the shooting occurred. The defense stated that Dr. Parker did not have direct interaction with the child, and any of the other teachers who did could have stepped in and separated JT from the other students if they knew he had a gun.
