A police officer can stop you on the street and try to talk to you, but you don't have to talk to them. They can ask you if they can search you. You don't have to allow that search. You have a constitutional right under the Fourth Amendment to just walk away. Ask the police officer if they're going to arrest you. If they're not, keep your mouth shut. Leave the area.
