11:30Now PlayingSenior adviser to Prime Minister Netanyahu, Mark Regev, told Rachel Johnson that ‘the idea of peace with Hamas is a misnomer…it’s impossible’ as he ruled out calls for a ceasefire.
He added that the 'destruction' of Hamas would be positive for 'peace in the Middle East' as their removal would open the possibility for 'moderate and pragmatic voices' in the region.
Mr Regev also condemned the UN for creating 'lifesavers' for Hamas, telling Rachel that it is a 'mistake'.
The United Nations Security Council held a vote for a resolution calling for a ceasefire on Friday, the resolution, backed by Arab states, had 13 in favour and one — the U.S. — against, while the UK abstained.
