In a message on Twitter, Musk stated: "We're shutting it down," adding that he had the "full support of the president."He described the agency as "beyond repair."
USAID’s funding is determined by Congress, with a budget of approximately $40 billion for the 2023 fiscal year, according to a recent Congressional Research Service report. The agency primarily supports foreign aid and overseas charities.
Commenting on the issue, Burt tells Goodall: "There's no democratic element of this – it seems to be being done on a whim and an ideology,", adding that "the language used is sinister."
