Last week, President Trump vented his frustration after the Supreme Court blocked his administration from using the Alien Enemies Act to deport Venezuelan migrants to El Salvador.
Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “My team is fantastic, doing an incredible job, however, they are being stymied at every turn by even the U.S. Supreme Court, which I have such great respect for, but which seemingly doesn’t want me to send violent criminals and terrorists back to Venezuela, or any other Country, for that matter.”
Simon notes the growing difficulty for journalists trying to hold Trump to account, not least because there’s no one in the White House willing to challenge him. He points to Trump’s knack for spinning clear defeats as victories, with no internal pushback to stop him.
