YouTube Description
as posted by the channelJon Sopel joins Shelagh Fogarty to discuss the latest update in the release of documents relating to disgraced financier, Jeffrey Epstein.
The US House of Representatives speaker, Mike Johnson, announced an early retirement of the house yesterday, delaying the vote to release the Epstein documents.
The delay comes after the US justice department requested a meeting with Epstein's longtime partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, to discuss what she might know about the contents of the files.
Talking to Shelagh, Jon Sopel casts doubts on Trump's reason for delaying the release, suggesting 'he has something to hide'.
Sopel goes on to say the delay is only 'amplifying conspiracy theories' surrounding Epstein's death as well as Trump's relationship with the financier.
Concerning Trump's supporters, Sopel suggests that this is a 'dangerous' move for the MAGA base, as divisions are beginning to show through the delay.
The vote is pushed back to September, when the house reconvenes.
