After the terror attack on a synagogue in Manchester, there has been criticism of the timing of pro-Palestine marches taking place.
In particular, the Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood called the protests that took place in the immediate aftermath of the attack 'un-british'.
People took to the streets on Thursday to protest the Israeli interception of a flotilla carrying aid to Gaza, with more expected to protest this weekend over the ban of Palestine Action.
Amos Schonfield acknowledges that whilst the protests may be 'difficult' for British Jews, it does not mean that they shouldn't take place.
The Jewish activist argues that 'civil liberties are under attack', and banning a protest like this would only further confirm this.
As a participant of the Palestine protest, predominantly led by the Jewish community, Schonfield thinks that protests are not 'inherently unsafe for Jews' and instead are needed for more 'interfaith cohesion'.
