The New York Times filed yet another lawsuit. Brian and Shant trace the full timeline: October 2025 loyalty pledge (struck down), March 2026 escort requirement (struck down), April firing of Stars and Stripes ombudsman Jacqueline Smith (a congressionally protected position), the removal of Correspondents' Corridor, and now this. The pattern is Whac-A-Mole: every time a court blocks one restriction, Hegseth invents a new one. No mainstream outlets have reporters embedded with U.S. forces in the Middle East. Press conferences are rare. Hegseth takes questions only from friendly outlets and once tried to spoon-feed reporters language for covering the Iran war. Brian predicts the court will order the Pentagon to provide an alternative press workspace and may eventually issue contempt orders.
