A "hate crime" incident caught my eye this week. Two senior police officers were accused of making a "grossly offensive" leaving video for an Irish colleague, featuring references to potatoes, travellers, a topless Muslim barmaid and a man with a toothbrush up his arse.
Thing is...I watched clips of the video and it's hilarious, and clearly affectionate. The woman complaining wasn't its target. She's offended on behalf of the Irish fella. These perma-offended workplace killjoys are the people spreading discontent and division.
And it's been very lucrative for her - she's been awarded over £820k so far for various hurty feelings.
I also look at some of the most insane "Non-crime hate incidents" recorded against people. They're so ridiculous that a drug dealer was issued with one when an LGBTQ person thought the dealer ripped him off on the basis of his sexuality. The police seem completely oblivious to the fact that BUYING DRUGS IS A CRIME and only care that the transaction takes place without any hurty feelings
