Jameela Jamil has been gifted every opportunity by Britain - a great education, a career lifted by DEI, indoor plumbing - and yet she still appeared on a podcast this week to condemn Brits as "truly the most evil people in history" who owe India "43 trillion" in reparations.

But was British colonialism as horrific as we're told? Britain brought India:

- One of the world's largest rail networks, facilitating trade across the sub-continent;

- A legal and justice system essential for a fair society and the enforcement of contracts;

- A professional bureaucracy and civil service that ran the country;

- Infrastructure: roads, bridges, ports, canals, telegraph lines and electricity networks;

- A unified currency, postal service and national market which reduced barriers to trade;

- English, which spanned the hundreds of existing languages to become a common administrative and commercial language;

- Universities, medical colleges and higher education;

- Democracy;

- Vaccination campaigns, clean water and medical institutions.

And we brought India sanitation and flushing toilets, although I respect the tenacity of many Indians in sticking to their ancient culture of defecating in the open. According to the BBC, more than half a billion people in India still "continue to defecate in gutters, behind bushes or in open water bodies". You do you, guys.

Is the castigation of Britain just fashionable, an easy way to get attention? If Jameela hates Brits so much then why, like fellow non-white anti-Western firebrands AOC and Ash Sarkar, does she have a white boyfriend?

I wonder if they all realise the damage they're doing to their own cause.
