Every day it seems there's a new Islamist atrocity in Western Europe for the authorities to deflect away from. This week one of the usual suspects ran round Paris stabbing women, including a pregnant woman.
He was then filmed pinned to the ground saying, "Allah made me do it." Seems pretty conclusive. A clear admission that fits into an existing pattern.
Unless you're French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, who insisted that this man was mentally ill, deranged, had no idea what he was saying. "The man gave a strongly confused impression and uttered ‘incoherent language...The motive is unclear".
Apart from the bit where he explicitly stated his motive.
By the end of the week, politicians will have worked out a way to blame it on climate change, the far right and Donald Trump.
