13:15Now PlayingA Dalit lawyer and activist in Gujarat, India was killed by a man from Mumbai, allegedly over his social media posts criticizing Brahminism. The accused and five other suspects were arrested in connection with his death. The lawyer, Devji Maheshwari, was a senior member of the Indian Legal Professionals Association the All India Backward and Minority Communities Employees Federation, which fights caste discrimination. An unidentified Crime Branch official in Mumbai told reporters that the accused, identified only as Raval, had threatened Maheshwari over his activism in the past too. The victim’s family named nine suspects and refused to accept his body till all of them were arrested. Four remain at large.
